12/24/2003: more art
so unlike my earlier experiments with art-deco styling on the computer, here is a completely original second attempt (printable version here).
12/23/2003: gift wrap
I made some wrapping paper and a template for gift cards on the computer. you'll need acrobat 5 or better for the wrapping paper to look/print right -- but it looks pretty good when it's printed out on 11"x17" paper in color.
12/09/2003: choppers 'n' stuff
if you are not watching american chopper regularly, you should. basically, Paul Jr. is not only a fabricator, he's a freehand metal sculptor. do they cut the show so it looks like he can do everything by just eyeballing? or is he just that good?
also, snooping on friends' online dating profiles is entertaining.

the charmallow rides again
I managed to bundle myself up to the point where I actually got hot biking to work in below-freezing weather. as long as there's no snow or ice, the winter is actually fine for bike commuting. somehow managed get to work at 8am, and realized that no one else gets here this early on fridays. oh well.
12/02/2003: back from my travels
so this weekend I went to celebrate Thanksgiving in NYC with family. I also managed to see some friends from college, which was good. afterwards, I went down to arlington, VA to go to my friend Gwen's wedding, and see some old high school friends. it was a good weekend, but I got a little traveled out.
meanwhile, it got cold in boston. for instance, this morning there was a quarter inch of snow on the ground when I left for work. took a nice spill on my bike, I did. it might be time to switch to subway commuting.
